Follow The Sun is a collaboration between Gjabrielle Guterrez of Silver Luna Alchemy and I. Together, we crafted 23 days of spiritual curriculum that focused on grounding and invoking energy to re-enchant everyday life. Manifestation magick, daily meditation, journaling, tarot + astro messages and rituals working with the universe.
We were deeply called to create this program after hearing about the murder of Elijah McClain. In all the photos we see of Elijah, we see a 23-year old with happy eyes. He was a person who created his own joy and healed others with it. This is undeniable. It’s been one year since his death and his soul still hasn’t been given justice. August 24, 2019. One whole year. Month after month, his family has had to carry not only the weight of his loss but also the murderous inexcusable actions of Aurora Police Department (APD).
We got word this past month that his case has been reopened. That’s great, but we still demand actions. Over 200,000 requests for justice for Elijah have poured into Governor Polis’ office this summer. As of July 3, only one of the officers had been fired, but not for his direct involvement in Elijah’s death. It was for those photos he (and other officers) took AFTER at the site mocking it all. The officer’s names are Nathan Woodyard, Jason Rosenblatt, and Randy Roedema. They haven’t been charged yet. On June 13, however, the APD quietly reassigned Woodyard and Rosenblatt to “non-enforcement duties,” with Rodema following on June 20. Like I mentioned above — on June 25, the AG opened an investigation — on July 28, the Colorado Department of Health opened an investigation of the use of ketamine they injected in him. A few weeks ago, in wake of all of this, Aurora appointed a new police chief.
