Day Seventeen - Stepping Into Our Vitality
Today is a powerful day to remember those who’ve paved the way for us and to remember that we’re alive. First and foremost, yesterday Gjabby beautifully reminded us in her recording how Elijah McClain used his vitality daily in his short 23 years. For 365 days Aurora, Colorado government officials have sat and stared out of their windows of inaction, insufficiency, and ineptitude. The question is why? Why is this taking SO long? We demand justice for Elijah McClain and his family NOW! Elijah should be here. And yes … I wanted to confirm with y’all that I did receive our postcard and I’m mailing it out today with F U L L F O R C E!
Today also is Marsha B. Johnson’s birthday! In the words of @tourmaliiine: “Marsha didn’t wait for the world to tell her she could be free; she told the world she already was free! Last one! Today ALSO is the date of the first documented monumental volcanic eruption — the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. I just keep thinking about how life can truly change or be gone in such an instant. Just like Elijah’s life and the countless other Black Americans who have died at the hands of police violence. Our actions during this time should be used on honoring and serving this planet’s greater good and pushing back against our corrupt LAZY justice system. Gjabby also asked great questions: How do we use our own vitality? How do we not feel overwhelmed with it? How can we set small goals? Virgo season is here to help us heal and to get organized! Vesuvius Day
On August 24, 79 CE, Mount Vesuvius erupted. Hot ash and pumice buried the Roman cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Stabiae.
This is a good day to honor the element of fire and the god Hercules. For this spell, you need a red candle, a flat piece of igneous rock, and something to mark the stone. Light the candle and set the rock on your altar.
Meditate on how fire can be a source of destruction (as in burning a forest) or creation (as in making new land). Mentally assign one aspect of fire to each side of the stone. Mark them accordingly. Then say:
The power of fire destroys
All things in time: loves, hates, griefs, joys.
The power of fire creates
All that it takes: griefs, joys, loves, hates.
Imagine sealing those energies in the stone. Later, when you need to change fire’s manifestation, turn over the rock.
