Day Twenty - What The Water Gave Me

Ahhh … cleansing, renewing, refreshing, purifying, delicious water. I recently took a trip to Malibu and bathed in the forgiving waters of the Pacific Ocean. I felt brand new. Yesterday Gjabby sent me this video AND this video on Instagram and it totally dawned on me … we should do a ritual honoring the beautiful element of water. I know some of us are preparing to take in some rain this weekend. Be sure to collect some rainwater or sun / moon charged water to add to your altar! You can use it for future rituals. Here are a few to help you level up your game.

Water Magic

Depending on where you live, the water element might be manifesting itself as rain, snow or fog. Or you might live someplace where water is scarce. But no matter where you are, you can do the simple water magic. If it is precipitating outside in any form, set out a bowl to catch it. Otherwise, just use tap water, which came from the sky and the ground somewhere. Sit in a quiet room and scoop up a little water on your fingertips. Anoint first the top of your head, then your forehead, then your chest, then your abdomen.

As you do so, say:

Bless my spirit with this water.
Bless my mind and my heart.
Bless the core of my body,
Made too of water, that is the source of all life.
Thank you, water, for all that you do.

-Deborah Blake

Water Ritual

The goal of this ritual is to explore the water element and get in touch with it personally, renewing your connection for magical or spiritual practice. Find a place where you can hear running water — a stream, a waterfall, or even a fountain. If you don’t have access to one of these, you can listen to a recording. The sound of rain would also be appropriate. In addition, use actual water in this ritual, if desired. Consider the metaphysical qualities associated with water, such as cleansing and intuition. In addition, focus on respect for water. Chant:

Water, as you move and flow,
remind us, you’re essential —
but with dangerous potential —
the gentle rain, the hurricane.
Keep us mindful, precious water.
Cleanse us, quench us.

-Ember Grant
