“Inspired by light and shadow patterns, nature, Oulipo literature, and dance, Katie M. Westmoreland uses analogue photography materials and painting techniques to create sculptures, textiles, and installations. This summer, the experimental art space Otto's Adobe (in the Adirondacks) hosted Katie as an artist in residence, featured her work in a solo show, and continues to maintain two site specific installations. Her work was recently included in group shows at Trestle Gallery and Starr Space Gallery in Brooklyn, Annmarie Sculpture Garden in Dowell, Maryland, Splendora Gardens in Cleveland, Texas, and the Target Gallery in Alexandria, Virginia. Katie's mural, "Visiting Landscape: Forest to Beach," is on view at 108th Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard through labor day weekend. The Wave Hill Sunroom Project Space will host a site specific, solo exhibition during the summer of 2018. Katie graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.F.A. in Studio Art and attended Columbia University's Advanced Summer Painting Intensive in 2012.” - Source
