Day Eight - A Key to Protection
Image: Hecate by Jane Estelle Trombley
I could not stop thinking about Saturn and the symbolism of keys this week. Today is Saturday named after the one and only Saturn. Saturday’s energies are aligned with the planet of time, karma, restraint, and responsibility — which makes it a great day for magick. I’ve just been thinking about all of the unexpected changes popping up in the world right now (thank you Uranus) and with the upcoming New Moon in Leo on Tuesday … what door am I EXACTLY trying to walk through? Thinking a lot about my options, all that I need to get done this month, and the magick I want to carry with me along the way. There are so many old house keys lying around my apartment and this week I realized that I am ready to re-enchant them.
Here is a nice spell from Blake Octavian Blair:
A Key to Protection
Saturday’s are under Hecate’s care. Today, let’s work with her to create a protection talisman using a key, an item commonly associated with her. Use this talisman when the stray energies flying around you are getting to be a bit much to tolerate. Find yourself a key and a length of cord. It needs to be a key you will not use for any other function or purpose. A modern or antique key will work equally well. Light a candle to Hecate, attach the cord to the key so that it may be worn as a necklace, and place the key next to the candle. Recite:
Goddess Hecate, guardian of witches
Your dark cloak of protection
I do invoke!
A key to unlock these mysteries,
Enchant and instill.
I’ll wear it around my neck
So that with your protection I shall fill!
So mote it be!
Allow the candle to safely burn down and then wear your talisman as needed. Keep it for tomorrow too! You might want to use it ;)
